What about the emus?
We get asked quite often about the emu's and how the oil is extracted, and if the emu's are killed during the process. This page will explain the whole process from baby chick to the oil in your bottle.
The emu's are farmed on a large, free range farm. They live to a full adult life before they are processed for a variety of uses -
* Emu Meat
* Emu Feathers
* Emu Skin
* Emu Oil
So as you can see when an emu is processed the whole animal is used, making it a very environmentally sustainable practice.
The meat is low fat and very low in cholesterol is and used in smallgoods. The skin makes high-quality leather with an attractive appearance. The oil is extracted from the fat of the emu and used in cosmetics and for therapeutic health products. There are also small industries associated with carving of eggs and use of feathers.
Emu products have been traditional used for thousands of years by the Australian Aboriginals, now we can benefit from their ancient wisdom and use their natural healing as opposed to expensive and often inadequate pharmaceutical medications. |
